Don't forget the GFWC Tellico Women's Club is
sponsoring a fund-raising project which will showcase the beauty of the
Tellico Village Community. They are designing a calendar,
approximately 8 ½ x 11, for the year 2010 with photographic scenes of
the Village that will promote our local photographers. They
are inviting our organization to participate by submitting their
favorite photos. Photos must be submitted as an 8 x 10" color
photo. Winners will be asked to submit the photograph digitally
at a later date. Entry deadline is May 15, 2009 so time is short - get your favorite Tellico Village photo entered!
For
additional information or questions, please contact: Karen Hall at
kmhmoon@charter.net or 657-9236 or Jan Kastens at jkastens@charter.net
or 806-1549.
-------------------------
One more reminder and that is to get by the library
and make any necessary changes to the Tellico Village Directory.
Time is running out - hurry! |

IMPORTANT CHANGE TO MAILING OF CHECKS
Effective immediately, please mail checks FOR ANNUAL DUES AND CLASS FEES to a NEW ADDRESS which is located in the More Than Mail office in the village. Funds for TAP activity should NOT be sent there. That new address is:
Tellico Village Computer Users Club 298 Village Square drive, Tellico Village, #128 Loudon, TN 37774.
NOTICE
DO NOT use PO in the address. Using PO in the address forces your letter to go to the
Loudon post office.
-------------------------
EMAIL ADDRESS CHANGES. When
you make a change to your e-mail address, please remember to
send us a notice of that change. Please notify me at bkkutch@yahoo.com or Ethel Tatro at ehtatro@earthlink.net.
When you don't notify us we are unable to get you our
newsletter or any other important news. Thanks.
-------------------------
We received four new memberships last month. Their
names are listed below. Please look for them at our general
meeting and make them welcome. They are:
Gerald and Christine Campbell
Suzanne Chruchill
Linda Creamer
Irene Rohner
-------------------------
The Membership Committee would like to ask a favor of you. Rather than paying your annual dues (cost is $15.00 per membership)
at the reception table before each monthly general meeting, we would
greatly appreciate it if you would send a check made out to TVCUC at
the new club address given above.

| First Level Support
by Joe Solymossy |
#*!-+*
This computer doesn't work!!! How often have we shouted these words at
our computer... I'm Joe Solymossy and I'm happy to tell you there is
some quick help available. Membership in the Tellico Village Computer
Users Club gets you my telephone number, 865-458-3834, or you can go to
our web site and fill out a help request under the "help & support"
header. Either way I will make sure that someone provides you help.
What
does it really mean to get help from the club? I coordinate a group of
volunteers who will talk you through your problem, or even come to your
computer to help. Either we can get you back on track again or we can
tell you what your next action should be - next level of expertise, new
component or a new computer. Our help is not limited to just the tower.
Some of us have first level knowledge about printers, wireless routers,
scanners, monitors, speakers, and external drives. We will not repair
these items but we may be able to lead you to a fix. Most often however
we provide help in getting a program or process that you want to use or
are using to function properly. We can often find someone who uses the
program you are trying to use - Quicken, turbo tax, photo gallery, etc.
and can give you some help.
If unsure of what to do call me.
Please remember, this is not emergency help. It may be a few days
before someone gets back to you, and we play phone tag for a while.
However, if I am home, I am usually available between the hours of 8:30
in the morning until about 10 pm at night. Oh, you really shouldn't
shout at your computer, unless it makes you feel better.

| How Do You Communicate?
by Karen Brown |
|
Karen wrote this article for the current HOA newsletter and we
asked her permission to repeat it here because it had valuable
information for all of us.
-------------------------
How do you get your Village information? There are
lots of good outlets for accurate and timely information. Rumors, of
course, shouldn't be one of them.
We have several Village
Websites that offer you information on events, including our own HOA
site (hoatv.org) and the New Villagers site (newvillagers.org). The POA
Website is posting more and more information about POA operations.
For
those of you who do not watch or cannot receive Channel 3, remember
that Channel 3 is available on the Web at tvpoa.net/ch3x (you can also
get to it through the POA Website). Just click View Current Events to
see upcoming activities. To see the videos currently running on Channel
3, click View Streaming Videos. This is particularly important for our
neighbors in Kahite who cannot receive Channel 3.
The HOA has
the HOA COM NET process in place. Through this venue, your Neighborhood
Watch chair sends you email regarding issues in the Village, including
safety bulletins. If you are not on this network, you should be.
Contact your Neighborhood Watch chair to add your email address or to
correct a changed email address. These messages are sent with your
address in a blind carbon, so it is kept private-not shared even with
your neighbors for privacy reasons.
The Tell-E-Gram, sent
twice a week through email, is another excellent source of information.
Again, if you do not receive this publication, you should. And it's
easy to sign up. Just send an email to Patty Robichaud
(probichaud@tvpoa.org) and ask her to add your email address to the
distribution.
No computer? Take advantage of free Village
Webmail. Set up an account and check your Webmail in the TV Library. Go
to the Tellico Village POA Website (TellicoVillage.org
<http://www.TellicoVillage.org> ), and select Webmail in the
lower left-hand corner. Follow the on-screen instructions to sign up.
Webmail users receive the Tell-E-Gram and updates as they occur.

| Free Stuff, Cartoons & Photographs
by Frank Fritchman |

Do you want to edit some of your photographs but
don't want to invest in or learn how to use Photoshop Elements
or one of the many other options available to us? Check
out this site and see how you like it. It is free an is said to
be remarkably like Photoshop Elements.
-------------------------
Now some news from the Internet. Copied
here is one of the many notes you and I have been receiving about
our recession/depression, here is one expression as to just
how bad it really is:
"It's bad ..
Congress says they are looking into this Bernard Madoff
scandal. So, the guy that made $50 billion disappear
is being investigated by the people who made $750
trillion disappear. The economy is so bad:
CEO's are now playing miniature golf.
Even people who have nothing to do with the government aren't paying their taxes. Hotwheels and Matchbox stocks are trading higher than GM. The government met with small businesses to discuss the Stimulus Package: GE, Pfizer and Citigroup. PETA serves chicken wings at their meetings McDonalds is selling the 1/4-ouncer. People in Beverly Hills fired their nannies and learned their children's names. A truck load of Americans got caught sneaking into Mexico. The most highly-paid job is now jury duty. Dick Cheney took his stockbroker hunting. Motel Six won't leave the light on. The Mafia is laying off judges"
-------------------------
For those of you who are fascinated by your
digital camera and what we can do with it, here is a site which will
give you an insight into how much more there is to come. This is
a NY Times article on a digital camera that can take 60
pictures a second. Not movies; these are full six-megapixel
photographs, each with enough resolution for a poster-sized
print. Why do I want to do that? Read it and see why some
may.

-------------------------
Bob kutschera sent me an article from www.idealbite.com/ which
I could not copy here but which contained good information on
how to make better use of your printer and printer ink. The title
of the article is "What's a draft no one should dodge?
It is worth your time trying to find it at that site. It
basically tells you that when you initiate the print function the
dialog box you are given includes a Properties option. If you
click on that option you can then chose to print your document in
a draft form, using less ink. You are also given other
options like printing a more vivid document. Check it
out!
-------------------------
Bob also sent this great picture, taken April 3rd, at
Sandridge Energy, South of Fort Stockton, TX. Be sure to carry
your camera with you so you can catch one as dramatic as this
one.

| The
dogwood blooms are all but gone but there remains a lot of spring
beauty for us to see in beautiful Tellico Village. Get your
cameras out and get some good shots of our spring!
By the way, this is the time of year when many of you, like
me, resume our habit of walking our neighborhoods. When you do
that, consider taking a plastic bag and a "pick-up" device
with you and collect trash as you walk. Maybe we cannot prevent
people from littering our beautiful place, but if enough of us walk
with bags and "pick-up" sticks we can keep ahead of them! And
there is a second benefit - it takes your mind off the
labor of walking!
See you at the general meeting. | |
