Summer vacation!  Doesn't that sound wonderful?  To give everyone a break and let you all enjoy some time with friends and family, TVCUC is not holding an August meeting.  But we'll be roaring back in  September with an Open House at the new TAP Center (below Catino's Restaurant).  You'll want to see what the TAP volunteers are doing, so mark the date and the special location on your calendar.

TAP Open House for September TVCUC meeting

Everyone is invited to attend an Open House on Tuesday, September 1st at 7 pm.  The event will be held at the new home of the TAP program.  This will replace the September monthly meeting of the TVCUC normally held at the Yacht Club.

The Technology Access Program first began in June of 2006 and now gives, on average, seven or eight computer systems away each month.

In June the TAP program moved from the Cooper house next to the TV Community Church to 244 Lakeside Plaza (underneath Catino's).

These new quarters give the volunteers more open space to work, a more reliable internet connection for testing all the computers and an outlet for refurbishing and selling used computers.

Microsoft Corporation has certified TAP as a "Community Authorized Microsoft Refurbisher" and provides the XP operating systems and MS Office at a substantial discount when used for distribution through non-profit organizations.

This is a wonderful outreach program for the TV Computer Users Club and we are thankful for the volunteers who work on the computers, computer donations and monetary contributions.  If you would like to get involved with or donate to this program, contact Warren Sanders 408-0304.

Please mark your calendar for September 1st so you don't miss this exciting event!  There will be a special valuable door prize given away at this meeting.

Introduction to Genealogy Classes

Anyone interested in scheduling classes for an orientation to genealogy should contact me at 458-2142 for additional information.  These two classes can be scheduled at the TVCUC classroom for the cost of $5.00/person, which includes researching the Internet for specific family history records.

This is a picture taken right here in the village by Jim Noonan and is very interesting.  See what you can capture if you keep your camera with you?

I wonder how many of you have heard of or seen the visiting Peacock?  If you live anywhere near the Rec. Center you may have seen it.  No one seem to know where it cam from but we have sure enjoyed the view.  Here is a photo take by Vince Alline when it visited his home on Ootsima Way.
