TVCUC
has made arrangements for two tours of the ORNL (Oak Ridge National
Laboratory) Super Computer Center and the original carbon reactor
used to make uranium for one of the two WWII nuclear bombs (the second
was a plutonium weapon). The two dates selected are
Tuesday November, 3rd, 2009 and this will replace the General Meeting
for the month of November. The second tour will be Tuesday November
17Th, 2009 and both tours will begin at 1:00 PM at ORNL and will last
approximately three hours. For both tours, we will
meet at the Tellico Village Visitor's Center at 11:45 AM and will
arrange for car pooling. Departure will be precisely at 12:00 PM.
If you wish to drive yourself to ORNL, directions will be provided at
the Visitor's Center or in advance via email if requested. To sign up for the tour, please send me your full name, date of birth, citizenship
(example - US), and the date you would like to take the tour (November 3Rd or 17Th). There are only 40 slots available for each tour and all who wish to participate MUST send me the information no later than September 28Th. I must have this information in the hands of ORNL by October 1St. If you wish to learn more about ORNL, please click on the following link: ORNL. If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to email or call me. Bob Kutschera bkkutch@yahoo.com 408-3092
