Note: Complete Step 1 before going on to Steps 2 & 3
Step #1-Do it yourself using HTML (Hyper Text Markup Language)

Getting Started
  1. Open a new Notepad or Word document
    • Try your hand at HTML coding
    •             Try adding colors, images, links, tables, etc.
  2. Save your document(s) with an html suffix.  Do Not save as a web page
    • Example: chickensoup.html
  3. Continue to edit your document(s) until it’s to your liking
    • Open your html document
    • Click View in the toolbar above
    • Click source
    • Edit your code
    • Save the changes
    • Refresh you web page to see changes
Step #2-Get a unique Web Address (called a Domain)

Examples: Google.com, TVCUC.org, meyerhofers.com
Cost bout $13 or less per year
Go to www.domainsearch.com to finds out if the domain you want is available or already registered

Step #3-Find web hosting company and upload web pages
Web hosting company provides a server for you to upload your web pages.
Costs about $60 or less per year, http://www.LowestHosting.com

Purchase a file transfer program
e.g. Ipswitch WS_FTP Home about $40.00 http://www.Ipswitch.com
or find a free ftp program (http://dl.winsite.com/bin/downl?500000017413)
Notes:

You can go On-Line absolutely free with some limitations:
There are free hosting companies that are supported by ads. Do you want ads all over your Web Site?
Free domain ….Hardly unique, example: Ancestry.com/your ID No.
Free server space…probably sufficient for a small personal website
Free file transfer program (ftp)
These are usually a come on to purchase upgraded versions at similar cost as stated above.
Decide if you are going for the free domain/sever route, or pay a few dollars for a unique domain/sever and go on-line.

Have Fun!
