On June 4th we had a good turnout for our annual picnic/social at the Tugaloo Pavilion. It was a beautiful afternoon and evening. The food was excellent and the crowd was congenial. I believe everyone had a good time. We presented about 15 door prizes, many $25 vouchers for Tellico Village restaurants. Joanne Nye won the Grand Door Prize, a TAP-refurbished laptop computer. Congratulations, Joanne!
I would like to express heartfelt gratitude to all the volunteers who helped plan and execute the picnic. I especially want to recognize Kathy Milam and Kathy Economy, our event coordinators, for their excellent organization and coordination of the picnic from start to finish. Thank you!!! We simply could not have had such an enjoyable event without your dedication and hard work, which was abundantly evident to all in attendance.
In regards to volunteerism, I would like to highlight the simple fact that the Club cannot function without members willing to volunteer their time and talent. As we take a break for the summer, I ask all our members to consider some volunteer opportunities that are coming up this year. A nominating committee has been organized to find candidates for a few key vacancies in our upcoming election of officers for next year. None of these positions requires any particular computer proficiency, only a willingness to give a few hours each month to keep your Club running effectively. Most of the positions are for a term of one year. More information about this will be forthcoming later this summer. I ask you to consider stepping up and help us fill the vacancies for next year’s board.
Enjoy your summer!
