When: May 18th at 11:00 AM.
We will meet one hour (10:00 AM) before the tour time at the Chota Parking opposite the Marathon station in Tellico Village and depart no later than 10:10 AM. Directions will be given to you at that time and we can car pool to the facility. If you wish to drive yourself and meet us at the Proton Therapy Facility (see address and directions below), you are welcome to do so, but you must tell me in advance and you must arrive there by 9:45 AM.
Get behind the scenes tour of the proton center including a complete walk through of a patient experience and up close viewing of the massive equipment that makes proton therapy work. We learn the history of proton therapy that dates back to 1903, how proton therapy works, and we will also see the next generation of equipment being installed at the proton center from the ProNova group in Maryville, TN.
How long is the tour: The Proton Center tour lasts about one and a half hours.
Restrictions: We do have some restrictions on one section of the proton center tours that require those individuals with pace makers and or someone that may be pregnant to be restricted from entering the cyclotron vault. They can view pictures of the cyclotron, but they may not enter the actual vault where the equipment is active.
